I love you I love you I love you

I love you!

I love you, street sign! you are showing people where to go, and you are have a cool reflective surface that makes you shine in the darkness! I love you raindrop, coming down on me, you have been coming down all the way from the sky in a perfect rounded shape, and who knows where you were before! I love you balsamico, making my salad so tasty. I love you my body, you never let me down and recover from whatever stress I put you through, you are soft and strong, you let me experience the most incredible sensations, you are beautiful. I love you ugly jacket, because someone made you with a lot of effort, and chose your fabric and created you from nothing but an idea, and to them you were beautiful.

I love everything, and I love you too, because you are perfect. You are perfect for who you are, and there exists no more beautiful version of you. Open your heart and embrace everything, love everything, love yourself.

fitvillains:

To those of you with 5-15lbs to “lose”: it’s not all about the weight or the number on the scale. In most circumstances, it’s actually body composition that needs to change - losing fat and losing weight can be two different things.
Many of you contact me asking how to lose 5lbs, or tell me that you don’t necessarily want to lose weight, but just “tone” up. “Toning” is a buzz word for building strength and muscle: because some women tend to balk at the idea of gaining muscle, a new word was required to get them to on board

“Toning”, “Tightening”, “Flattening” “Leaning”, “Sculpting”, “Firming”, “Targeting”, “Defining”, = ALL “female friendly” buzzwords for gaining strength and building muscle. ALL of them.

The answer is, and will always be, resistance training and a cleaner diet. If you’re at a normal and healthy weight, it’s not about cutting calories or restricting: it’s about putting the right nutrients in your body, cutting processed & chemical foods OUT and filling up on loads of veggies & lean protein. You don’t have to eat less per se: you need to eat smarter and fuel your body. Your body LOVES it, trust me!
For your workouts, your priority should shift away from steady state cardio, which can burn away the “toning” if you over-do it (see how I swapped toning for muscle?). Strength, resistance and challenging intervals are your ticket, and should be the focus. Steady state cardio isn’t bad, but it’s not something you should be doing every workout. H.I.I.T training, and cardio intervals during your workouts are short quick ways to burn fat while preserving muscle.
Focus on workouts that challenge your body: strength training, resistance training, weight lifting, balance work, yoga, etc. Don’t stick to the same old thing, and work a bit smarter: use more than one muscle group at a time, take minimal breaks when doing circuits, and push yourself: the harder you push, the shorter your workout can be. To get the body you want, AND KEEP IT, you need to lift & lift heavier than you’re used to. And once you get used to that amount of weight, you need to increase the challenge.
Train smarter and towards your goals!

raw vegan shopping list

dearkrislyn:

This is tailored to my own tastes… that’s why there’s no dates and very little citrus (I love it, but can’t really handle too much at once.) Just in case the more raw inclined were curious.

  • Bananas- I might get 150 for two weeks. I get them from Trader Joe’s, super cheap there! Only 19 cents each!
  • Mangoes- I like to eat 3 a day by themselves for lunch or in my salad for dinner.
  • Tomatoes- Just a few for salads
  • Greens- such a must. Great source of protein, fiber, water, minerals. And yummy! I usually get romaine and baby spinach and just eat a ton of it. I do not put ANY kind of dressing on my salads. I have pretty much lost my taste for it.
  • Pears- Love these babies. They pack a caloric punch when you’re in need of something filling.
  • Kiwi-Also more energy packed in these little guys than you would think. Also— delicious.
  • Carrots- For munching on during class and meetings
  • Celery- same as the carrots
  • Berries- these are a treat. I don’t always get them, but if I see them on sale I will. Not high in calories, but high in delicious. Also, chock-full of vites, minerals, antioxidants, etc.
  • Nuts- I don’t need to buy these often because I only eat about a handful a day. 1 pound of cashews lasts me almost a month. I also like almonds, and when I’m feeling royal, macadamias. You can also use avocado instead as your fat source, I buy a couple of those a month.

These are a few of my favorite things. But honestly, this is all I’ll buy usually. Pretty small shopping list, right?

raw vegan?

I have thought about eating raw vegan for some time. I really want to give it a go because I heard so many positive things about it. Just now I watched this video about the fruitarian. I love how enthusiastically he talks about his health, energy levels and the happiness he feels every moment of his life. He really inspired me to finally try it myself!

Fuchi of course is on the boat so the adventure can begin!
